Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using GearIO. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
GearIO ("the Service") is an inventory and scan-logging app for tracking rented camera and production equipment, developed and operated by William Hecht, a sole proprietor ("Operator," "we," "us," or "our"). The Service is accessible at app.geario.app. For any questions, contact us at hello@geario.app.
You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
A free account is required to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate and current information, including an email address you control, since it is how you recover access. Notify us immediately at hello@geario.app if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized use of your account.
The Service's core features run on your device and are free. Projects you have not published to the cloud are stored only in your browser's storage on that device. You are responsible for retaining that data: clearing your browser's site data, removing the app, or losing the device will erase it, and we cannot recover it.
You retain ownership of all item records, scans, photos, orders, carnet details, exports, and other content you create within the Service ("User Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, sync, and display your User Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you and your collaborators. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
You represent that you have all rights necessary to submit any content you add to the Service, including order documents you scan, and that doing so does not violate the rights of any third party.
If you believe that content within the Service infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to hello@geario.app that includes: (a) a description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed; (b) a description of where the alleged infringing material is located within the Service; (c) your name and contact information; (d) a statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner; and (e) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.
Inviting someone to a project shares that project's data with them. Project owners and admins control membership and roles; removing a member stops their future access but does not remove copies already on their device. Anyone with an unexpired invite link can join the project it belongs to, so treat invite links like keys. You are responsible for who you invite.
GearIO offers two paid tiers for individual projects, "Pro" and "Unlimited", each available for a one-time fee per project, and an upgrade from Pro to Unlimited. A paid tier puts the project in the cloud so it syncs across devices and crew. Unlimited includes everything in Pro and admits any number of people; Pro admits a limited number, as described at the time of purchase. Either tier (a "paid license") is granted to a single project as identified in our system at the time of purchase, and applies for the life of that project.
A paid license covers one job: one production or rental period. Deliberately resetting a paid project, including renaming it and deleting substantially all of its items and orders, in order to repurpose the paid license for an entirely new and unrelated job without purchasing a new paid license ("project cycling") is a violation of these Terms.
Evidence of project cycling includes, but is not limited to, repeated full resets of a project's name and contents within a short period of time, particularly where the reset coincides with the start of a clearly different production or rental.
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to take any of the following actions in response to suspected or confirmed project cycling or other misuse of a paid license:
These actions may be taken without prior notice. Refunds in these circumstances are at Paddle's discretion under our Refund Policy. Repeated or egregious violations will be treated more severely, up to and including permanent account termination.
Pro, Unlimited, and the Pro to Unlimited upgrade are sold through Paddle.com Market Ltd, which acts as the merchant of record for all purchases. Paddle handles payment processing, sales tax and VAT, invoicing, refunds, and chargebacks; we never see your card details. Your purchase is therefore also subject to Paddle's buyer terms.
Each purchase is a one-time payment for a single project. It is not a subscription and does not renew.
Refunds are handled by Paddle and governed by our Refund Policy. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.
We reserve the right to change pricing at any time. Price changes will not affect paid licenses already purchased.
Order scanning reads rental order documents with an AI model and includes a fair-use allowance of pages (10 on Free, 100 on Pro, 250 on Unlimited). Reading a PDF that GearIO recognizes uses no pages. We may change these allowances, and may limit scanning that appears automated or abusive.
AI reading is not perfect. Scanned results can miss items or misread descriptions, barcodes, serial numbers, or quantities. You are responsible for checking imported items against the original order before relying on them.
GearIO's carnet, loss and damage, and record-keeping features are unofficial tools to help you organize your own information. They are not official documents, and using them does not make anything official. In particular:
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for, and you agree not to hold us liable for, any outcome arising from your use of these features, including customs delays, inspections, seizures, refused entry or exit, duties, taxes, fines, penalties, claims against a carnet or its security, loss and damage charges, disputes with a rental house or production, or the denial of an insurance claim.
If you submit ideas, suggestions, or feedback about the Service, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, implement, and build upon that feedback in any manner and for any purpose, without any obligation to compensate or credit you.
You agree not to:
You may stop using GearIO at any time. You can delete the projects you created from within the app, and we will delete your account and its cloud data on request to hello@geario.app.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, at our sole discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. If your account is terminated for a violation of these Terms, you are not entitled to a refund of any fees paid, except where the law requires one.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including Sections 8, 10, 11, 14, 15, and 16, will continue to apply after termination.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from loss, corruption, or security vulnerabilities. Use of the Service is at your own risk.
GearIO is a record-keeping tool. It does not provide legal, customs, tax, insurance, or financial advice. Its records and exports, including those described in Section 10, are not a guarantee of the outcome of any customs process or dispute, and we are not a party to disputes between you and any rental house, production, carnet issuer, customs authority, insurer, or other third party.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service, whether in contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise, is limited to the amount you paid us for the specific project giving rise to the claim.
In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of or damage to equipment, loss and damage charges, customs duties, fines, penalties, or delays, claims against a carnet or its security, loss of profits, loss of revenue, or loss of goodwill, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you irrevocably consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
Before filing any legal claim, you agree to contact us at hello@geario.app and allow 30 days for us to attempt to resolve the matter informally.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email prior to the changes taking effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the most recent changes took effect.
